OUR FAVORITE HERE AT MOD.LIFE®  AVOCADOS

Organic avocados are considered a pure, nutrient-rich food choice, while non-organic avocados are also healthy but may contain more pesticide residues and often involve large-scale farming methods. Both styles originate mainly from Mexico, California, Peru, and Chile, where climates favor avocado growth.

Healthy Aspects

  • Rich in Healthy Fats: Both organic and non-organic avocados provide monounsaturated fats that support heart health and help reduce inflammation.

  • Fiber Power: High fiber content in avocados aids gut health, boosts satiety, and helps manage weight.

  • Loaded with Nutrients: Avocados deliver potassium, magnesium, folate, vitamin E, vitamin K, and antioxidants like carotenoids, beneficial for skin, vision, and immunity.

  • Lower Cholesterol: The healthy fats in avocados, especially oleic acid, are linked to lowering bad LDL cholesterol.

Organic vs Non-Organic

  • Organic Avocados:

    • Lower pesticide exposure, reducing toxic buildup and supporting overall wellness.

    • Often allowed to ripen naturally, resulting in larger, tastier fruit with less artificial intervention.

    • May have slightly higher levels of iron, magnesium, and vitamin C.

  • Non-Organic Avocados:

    • Typically ripened with ethylene gas in bulk storage and more likely to have pesticide residues.

    • Still offer excellent nutrition, but may lack the “natural” edge of organics.

    • Often they are rubbery in texture.

So…….

  • When possible, choose organic avocados for reduced pesticide exposure and potentially higher nutrient content.

  • Enjoy avocados in salads, sandwiches, or smoothies to enhance nutrient absorption, especially for fat-soluble vitamins. Eat anytime of the day!!

  • Store ripe avocados in the fridge to prevent spoilage.

  • To check ripeness, gently squeeze: ready avocados yield to firm pressure.

Where They Come From

  • Mexico is the largest producer, followed by the U.S. (California, Florida), Peru, and Chile.

Choosing organic means cleaner eating and possibly bigger fruit. Non-organic is still a nutritious option, but organic comes out on top for purity and natural growth. But we find the non organic avocado is much more rubbery in texture.
